Bhanuswari held a pool party for the staff to celebrate taking over management of Panorama, an additional hotel located in town in Ubud, Bali.
Here’s the Marketing Manager with me, trying out the pool before the staff arrive. Even though I float amazingly well, sometimes I also use a tube to completely relax.
In spite of Bali’s being an island and having many rivers and lakes, most Balinese do not swim. They say “I float… like a stone!”
However, a couple of the staff at Bhanuswari CAN swim, and a couple of others can even swim under water.
Almost all enjoy playing in the water, regardless of swimming ability or swimsuits (that explains the T-shirts and pants).
Some stayed in the shallow end most of the time.
Others took advantage of tubes.
So that the cooks could also attend, dinner was catered – “babi guling” (roast pig), a local specialty. Individual servings are wrapped in a banana leaf, with rice at the bottom, veggies and meat on top. Open the cone out, and it becomes a picnic plate – and it’s even biodegradable!
