A Balinese Bale' at Bhanuswari Resort & Spa (http://www.bhanuswariubud.com/) is complete!
Bale's are scattered throughout the rice fields and used by the farmers for resting in the shade mid-day. Construction is simple - 4-6 posts, a roof covered in coconut leaves, and a raised platform with a woven mat to sit on for eating, or to lie on for napping. This one has a living tree as one of the posts - you can see the leaves sticking up above the roof.
This one at Bhanuswari Resort & Spa will be used by hotel guests for relaxing in the shade and enjoying the view.Or for al fresco meals. Or even as an alternate location for a massage!
Here's one of the Bhanuswari staff climbing a coconut tree.
It's harder than it looks! Gusti makes it look easy.
